Your family member is leading a destructive life—but that doesn't mean your life has to be destroyed as well. Stronger Together is an addiction support group for family and friends of people struggling with addiction. Participants can choose between an online discussion series or in-person meetings, both of which offer compassion, support, and healing to those who need it. It also includes a unique 12-step recovery plan that can help you move from a life of despair to a life of hope and purpose.

The Stronger Together 12 Steps

  1. I admit my loved one is being harmed by their use of drugs or alcohol.

  2. I grieve the loss of a healthy relationship with my loved one and the expectations I have for their future.

  3. I release my burden of guilt by refusing to accept responsibility for my loved one's choices.

  4. I recognize I am powerless to control my loved one and that my worry is unproductive.

  5. I refuse to support my loved one's destructive behavior and I allow them to experience the natural consequences of their actions.

  6. I acknowledge the negative impact my loved one is having on my family and take necessary steps to restore peace to my home.

  7. I develop coping strategies to promote my physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health.

  8. I identify ways in which good can emerge from my circumstances.

  9. I forgive the hurt my loved one is causing me and remain open to future reconciliation.

  10. I make a conscious decision to love unconditionally, offering dignity and respect.

  11. I accept my inability to change my loved one and I relinquish responsibility for their life.

  12. I find hope by focusing on my future and living a life of purpose.
